Award Winning Fax Software since 1999
Follow these steps to remove the old driver so snappy fax can install the new Terminal Services compatible driver...
Note: None of this applies to Windows 95, 98 or ME.
Remove the existing snappy fax driver:
- Shutdown snappy fax
- Start Control Panel and double-click on the "Printers and Faxes" icon.
- From the printers window, right click on "APF Fax Printer" and select "Delete" from the popup menu.
- Shutdown the print spooler (more on that later)
- Using Windows Explorer, browse to the Windows directory (C:\windows or C:\Winnt). Search for and delete all occurrences
of the file apfaxcnv.dll in that directory and any subdirectories, you'll most likely find this file in the system32 subdirectory.
The reason for shutting down the spooler is that it will not let you delete this file if it is running.
- Restart the print spooler. If the spooler is not running the new driver install will fail.
- Now run snappy fax so it can reinstall its driver.
Shutting down the print spooler:
- Go to Control Panel and double-click on "Administrative Tools"
- Double-click on "Services"
- Scroll down the list of services until you find "Print Spooler". Right click on "Print Spooler" and select
"Properties" from the popup menu.
- From the Property sheet, click the "Stop" button. Note: you can leave this window open as you will need to
click the "Start" button to restart the spooler.
